Program Description The Bachelor of Arts and Science in Environment (BASE) is a uniquely interdisciplinary undergraduate degree tackling one of the most important topics of our world today. With perspectives from both arts and science, this program addresses environmental, community and sustainability-related issues that take into account social, ecological, material, cultural and political views. BASE is built for students who are ready to create solutions relating to sustainability and the environment, helping to lead our generation toward a more sustainable future. BASE approaches issues in a practical yet profound way, building on the strength of CBU’s relationships with First Nations communities. Through Unama’ki College, the program has a strong Indigenous Focus, integrating Indigenous knowledge into its core principles. By leveraging Cape Breton’s Indigenous roots, BASE provides a truly unique perspective for students interested in leading environmental change. CBU is a carbon-neutral campus.
